It was an official selection at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and received some good airtime throughout the blog-o-sphere. 07.21.09The Films of Courtney Fathom SellAccording to documentary filmmaker/music video director Courtney Fathom Sell's website, his work falls under a self-instituted non-fiction sub-genre which he calls 'Crash'; "'Crash' is simply the act and format of documenting the images you choose to document, by whatever means necessary and with whatever equipment is available at that specific moment." Much of his work is shot on Hi8 video, and while it might be a choice dictated by practicality, the resulting raw aesthics are definitely no accident.
