Listen up Kickstarters: another film needs your support! This time it’s Brett Whitcomb’s joyfully nostalgic ‘GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’. I managed to catch the film at Hot Docs this year and it was a fun watch. It turns out they’re still not through with their post-production process and need a little support finishing the film off. Hot Docs audiences were enthusiastic about the film, so it might be worth drop-kicking in a few bones to help get this thing finished once and for all so you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.
Here’s some info on their campaign:
This is your chance to help tell these amazing ladies’ stories. This film captures an epic cultural phenomenon, and now you can have a part in the history. Despite an amazing world premiere at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, and sold out screenings at film festivals across the country, GLOW still needs help with finishing funds for the following:
Poster & Website Design
Marketing & Promotion
Licensing Archival Footage
Securing Music Rights (*Note: GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling features the music of early-80s, post-punk, all-girl funk group ESG (Emerald, Sapphire & Gold), and modern electronic artist, M83, and this music is essential to the overall feeling and energy of the film.)
The team is looking to raise $32,787 and as of now (June 6th), they’ve got 25 days to go. Head over to their Kickstarter page and have a look at their list of incentives and see if you might be able to contribute and help finish this film!
