I’ll admit I’d never heard of Wayne White before hearing about this film, but I’ve certainly seen his work. He was the man behind the design of Pee Wee’s Playhouse (including some of the puppets), which means I grew up watching his art on television. Director Neil Berkeley’s ‘Beauty is Embarrassing’ is a feature documentary profiling White and his work, exploring his career and his perspective on art. The film is currently playing SXSW, so hopefully those of us not attending the festival will get a chance to see it soon. Until then, check out the trailer embedded above and then head over the film’s website and have a look around.
