I don't think "Oprah style shows" is concern seeing as they just purchased SONS OF PERDITION, a doc about drug-abusing polygamist teens. Then again, that is a very emotional film. For the most part, they will probably be safe choices. For that reason, I think Oprah's documentary club will be great for bringing more attention to the form, but upcoming Michael Moore's documentary club will be better for those of us already fans of great non-fiction filmmaking and will help more filmmakers as well.

I think it is easy to dislike Oprah, especially because of her big success. But documentaries need all the commercial help they can get, so I reluctantly welcome her involvement.
