Waking Sleeping Beauty Trailer

If you enjoy documentaries about creative people and the creative process, then this looks like a movie for you. Waking Sleeping Beauty tells the no-holds-barred story of Disney Animation Studios between the years of 1984 and 1994. After a series of box office flops in the early ’80s, Disney was in a bad place, and a power struggle between Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Eisner and Roy Disney didn’t help matters. However, through determination and raw talent they were able to revitalize the company, leading to some of their biggest successes ever including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Producer Don Hahn lived through it all, and now he has culled together hours of interviews and never-before-seen footage to make this documentary. The movie has been getting great reviews from the festival circuit, and now Disney will give it a limited theatrical release in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco on March 26th.
