Oscilloscope to Release Spike Jonze’s Maurice Sendak Documentary on DVD

Looks like director Spike Jonze will be teaming up with his old friend Adam Yauch for the DVD release of his new documentary Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak, about the renowned author of Where The Wild Things Are. Although the film, which was co-directed by Lance Bangs, originally aired on HBO last year, the DVD will be distributed by Yauch’s Oscilloscope Laboratories. For the uninitiated, Yauch is better known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, for whom Spike Jonze has directed several music videos including “Sabotage”.

Although the doc is only 39 minutes long, the DVD release looks to have some decent extras including a Q&A with Spike Jonze and Maurice Sendak at the Museum of Modern Art, Maurice at the World’s Fair short film, and an exclusive essay by Tony Kushner. Tell Them Anything You Want will be released on March 2nd, which coincides with the DVD street date for Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are. Check out a trailer after the jump.
