I read Chagnon's books on the Yanamomo for my Anthropology 101 course as a first-semester freshman in 1976. The books inspired me to major in Anthropology. After watching this film, I am ashamed to say that my Bachelor's degree is in Anthropology. I was aware of the fact that the Anthropologist, through his/her participation and observation, unavoidably affects the culture he/she observes; but the actions of the people highlighted in the film are reprehensible. The so called "scholars" are as close to genocidal maniacs as you can get.

Thanks, Charlotte, for your smart review. Not a word on Brazilian press about this film yet. At the moment, Padilha starts filming "Elite Squad 2"

I can't wait to see this movie! I have been working with an indigenous tribe in the remote Peruvian Amazon since 2006 - the project gave cameras to six indigenous children in the community and they recorded their everyday lives in the rainforest for one year. To know their lives from their perspective and see amazing photos ALL taken by the indigenous children - visit ninosdelaamazonia.org
