There's a tendency to lavish praise on anything involving soldiers who are still in combat. Restrepo would have done better to have actually taken a political stance, I think. Although the soldiers themselves don't ever make anything political, which may have been an editing decision. Surely in 15 months some soldiers had something political to say about why they were in Afghanistan.

A more interesting documentary I think lies in the thoughts of the village elders. I'd like to see someone talk to them. What do they have to say about insurgents and the U.S. Army?

I saw this film and thought it was over rated. Another war film. Timely of course with whats going on politically but I felt the 2 journalists were making a mockery of soldiers in some way.

Thanks for highlighting this one, Charlotte. Since you mentioned it on the previous post here it's become one of my most highly anticipated documentaries of the year as well. Sounds insanely intense, and regardless of political values, as an American I owe it to the soldiers who are fighting on my behalf to try to get some idea of what their experience is like.
