Maybe there’s a way of creating a networking diagram that shows the direct and indirect influences of all the established documentary directors. We could start a version of “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon”.

This post is QUITE the achievement, Jay! Going over your top 50 of the decade and then those of your contributors makes me realize just how many docs I watch and have watched in the past as I’ve seen pretty much all of ‘em. I agree pretty much wholeheartedly with your choices, too. I feel that this decade has been, if not the best, then the most upwardly mobile in history. With the popularity and profitability of Michael Moore’s films and to a lesser extent “reality TV” I think many people now see docs as being as “valid”(from a mainstream perspective) as fictional films. Again, great work, Jay, I look forward to you keeping me informed in 2010!
