Great film. Had dinner with the filmmakers and Daniel Ellsberg at TIFF and I didn't have one intelligent thing to say all night. May have even said something as atrocious as "thanks for being you."

I also could not agree more. Why had I not heard of this man?

In truth though, I have to say, something was lacking in this film for me. Its been awhile now since I've seen it (that was back in early October), but I felt as if there should have been more depth to the story than there was. On the other hand, to me that proves the historical accuracy of the film. The film creators could have done so much more to exacerbate the story and make it more "entertaining", but they chose not to. And to me, that shows the simplicity of Ellsberg's act itself. But I'm rambling... Its a good documentary, but it wasn't my favorite of the year.

"Having watched the film it’s baffling how this isn’t a better known part of the history of the lead up to the end of the war. The outcome changed the relationship between the government and the media permanently and it’s still seen as one of the most important 1st Amendment law cases, cited every day in trials. "

Could not have said it better myself. That's exactly how we felt when we walked out of the theatre. Pretty spectacular stuff.

I have to say I loved the re-enactments they did with drawings. Brought a bit of levity to the film.
