Some of you may have caught Sean Dunne’s great documentary short ‘The Archive’ online a short while back. It was an official selection at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and received some good airtime throughout the blog-o-sphere. Well Dunne has just finished his next short, ‘Man in Van’, which gives us a short look at the life of Jimmy Tarangelo; a dude who’s been living out of his van in NYC for the last eight years. This is a great follow up to Dunne’s previous work and another great example of some efficient short-form storytelling. I just love these bite size portraits. Check it out — along with The Archive — below!

Hi there!
I love the Man in Van video! I was just browsing around for short films and I just think that there are so many fascinating people and stories out there to be told! For me the reality is sometimes more fascinatiing and surprising than many of the fiction stories…
Greetings from Sweden!
I have to regularly stay overnight in the van but with no bed.
I wonder where his parking tickets get sent if he is technically homeless.
archive is a great little film. but man in van is even better! love to see this film maker evolve in his craft. quite nice.
I had to stay 1 week in my van while going to italy, nice experience thow, i had fun, my back was not very good later but.. cant complain..
I thought at first this guy drove around different places and parked up, but he had a flat tyre and so much stuff on the roof he must just stay in one place.
Sad film, his ambition is to take his dogs rafting!
I prefer Man in Van over the Archive, however the hero in the latter one appeals to me more
. Its a great base for a movie!
Hmm… good question with regards to the parking tickets…if he is technically homeless how did he registered his car then? Maybe he bought it prior to he lost his home?
Man and Van . . hmmmm…. you dont have to own a home to be in a van.
Interesting documentary…
man and van is a very competitive industry in UK. And i am proud to be part of one
