One of the previously announced titles for this year’s Toronto International Film Festival is Under Great White Northern Lights, a film that documents The White Stripes during their cross-Canada tour in 2007. The duo performed in a number of odd venues such as “a Winnipeg transit bus, a Prince Edward Island fishing boat and a British Columbia classroom”.
Directed by Emmett Malloy (Out Cold), the film appears to be shot entirely in black-and-white, although that has yet to be confirmed. A teaser trailer was posted on The White Stripes official website last week and while it doesn’t show much, it hints at a rather artsy approach to what is often a pretty raw and visually bland type of film. Check out the teaser trailer below and see what you think.
