I just came across the trailer for an upcoming film called ‘Do It Again’, in which Boston Globe arts reporter Geoff Edgers sets on a quest to reunite what I assume is his favourite band of all time; The Kinks. Wait, didn’t I hear about a Kinks reunion recently? Hmmm…maybe he was successful? The film is currently in production and has a nice little line up of interviews including Sting, Brian Wilson, Paul Weller and Zooey Deschanel. The tone seems pretty ‘comical’ and this looks like it could play very nicely alongside a film like My Date With Drew. I hated My Date With Drew. Just sayin’. This looks to be one of those stories that is completely willed into existence by the filmmaker. That’s because IT IS. Either way, I like the Kinks so I guess I’ll be checking it out at some point. Check out the trailer below:

sorry, but that trailer looked terrible. would rather be water-boarded than to sit through that crap. talk about masquerading as a documentary… sheesh.
Yeah, not expecting much – it looks like it’s more about himself than about the subject matter. It does have two things going for it though: 1)some pretty spiffy old Kinks footage and 2) Zooey Deschanel.
I kind of agree with both of you. I’ve tried to make a point of not totally slamming smaller documentaries based on the trailers alone, but this does look ‘iffy’.
how do you join this blog if your an new independant film maker
I didn’t see the trailer for this film, but I just saw the finished film and have to let you know that it is really, really good. And I see roughly 200 documentaries a year as a film festival programmer. As I said, I didn’t see the trailer, but whatever it was, don’t judge it by that. Some great films have terrible trailers and some terrible films have great trailers.
