Trailer: Okie Noodling 2

It’s pretty rare for non-fiction films to produce sequels, but it does happen. I can think of a couple, and could make for a good future post on here at The Documentary Blog. Bradley Beesley’s Okie Noodling is certainly one film that I didn’t expect to see a sequel from. I thought the first one was pretty entertaining and seemed to do it’s job as a stand alone film. What else could they possibly explore? Having said that, I’ve just watched the trailer for part two, and I feel oddly drawn to it, even though it seems to be more of the same. Perhaps it’s some sort of way for me to confront my fear of natural bodies of water. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.

I’m with you, Jay. I absolutely loved the first one. The “noodling” is pretty exciting on its own, but the profiles of the people who do it are what really make it interesting.

I thought the first was entertaining but it was, in some places, quite choppy and I even remember hearing the audio from an earlier part of the film in a later part of the film as if Beesley didn’t really have his hands around sound editing at the time. What it seems like to me is that he’s had his go at film making for a little bit longer and realized that people were interested in the subject matter so he’s returned to a subject that he loves to do a sort of reboot. I’d be interested to see what sunken streets and slimy creeks he takes us to this time.
