Just for the record, Kael wrote for The New Yorker during the period of 1968 to 1991. Second, and again for the record, she did see some movies more than once. In “Conversations with PK,” under the chapter title “PK: The Critic Wore Cowboy Boots,” she tells interviewer Marc Smirnoff that she saw “Godfather II,” “Casualties of War” and “Nashville” twice. Her reviews of the first two were already in type and she felt she needed to make sure her facts were correct.

It’s Albert Maysles (David died in 1987), and in regards to his trashing…from anything i’ve seen, it’s more about Moore’s actual films and his tactics as a documentary filmmaker when dealing with people. He thinks he’s mean. It doesn’t really have anything to do with Moore’s politics or facts from what I understand. And if anyone is an authority on how to gain the trust of a subject and display them in an honest light, it’s Albert Maysles.

I know one of the Maysles has been making the rounds trashing Michael Moore for his practices… I wonder if they considered that maybe some of the things they’ve accused Moore of were also mistaken…
