  When I was a kid, my Dad had a friend who ran a table at the local flea market. I remember visiting his house and being blown away by his massive amounts of Kiss memorabilia and his collection of unopened ERTL model kits. To me, this guy was the coolest. I was 7. Now i'm 28 and I realize he actually wasn't the coolest. He was the worst.   Documentaries about fan subcultures are nothing new, and in fact we've been seeing a steady stream of them ever since the success of the classic Trekkies. Quite often I find myself fascinated by these movies about quirky people who are so passionate about something that it consumes their life. The movies are compelling because we can identify with them on some level, and watch with delight as they take things a step further than we would ever dare.   Now HERE is something I would KILL to see! Yes, KILL. Henry Hill is the ex-mob member portrayed by Ray Liotta in Martin Scorsese's classic film 'Goodfellas'. If you haven't seen it, I don't believe you. But if you TRULY haven't seen it, get off the internet and go watch it YOU MUDDA FUCKA YOU!!!! Anyways, it looks like Henry is the subject of an upcoming documentary, and iFilm has an exclusive clip! Well, I think it's a clip.   Just wanted to give a thanks to Jonny Leahan over at Indie Wire for mentioning The Documentary Blog in his recent article on, you guessed it, documentary blogs; 'The Doc Blogs: Part of a Thriving Online Film Community'.   So here's a question for all of you videographers and documentary filmmakers out there. I've recently made a pretty big decision in my life. I figure it's time to be a little less passive and a little more aggressive. After saving to buy my own house, i've decided to scrap my life plans and throw it all on the line.   For those of you who loved The Devil and Daniel Johnston, you'll probably want to check out Keven McAlester's 'You're Gonna Miss Me', a portriat of yet another tormented genious battling mental illness. The film follows the career of Roger Kynard "Roky" Erickson and his band the 13th Floor Elevators. I'll be the first to admit i've actually never heard of Roky or his music, which I guess is sort of the point of the film. His gradual slip into obscurity has turned this rock legend (who's band apparently coined the term 'psychadelic rock') into a footnote in music history ...
