  Who'da thunk it? The first trailer for the much anticipated 'Grand Theft Auto 4' video game has hit the web and much to my suprise, contained a direct reference to director Godfrey Reggio's Koyaanisqatsi's cityscape moment. The soundtrack even provides a 'sound-a-like' version of Philip Glass' score! I guess we can thank the March of the Penguins Nintendo DS game for trailblazing this mixture of documentary and video game. Thanks to them, we will now be able to kill hookers and score cocaine whilst appreciating obscure references to minimalist documentaries with underlying social commentaries!   I've been to New York City twice, and to my disappointment, did not see one superhero. A city famous as the home of Spider-man, Superman, Batman (sort of)...and not one single sign of any of them. I even threw myself off of the Brooklyn Bridge in hopes that one would suddenly swoop by and catch me in mid air, but alas, I simply slammed into the river, slightly embarrassed and badly bruised. In a second attmept, I robbed and shot another man in hopes that they'd at least show up to save HIM, but nothing. Now I must live day ...

  Wow. I have to admit that this is an unexpected piece of news. I've mentioned before on this site that i'm a 9/11 nut. I could watch pretty much anything on the topic of the September 11th terrorist attacks and remain interested. Out of all of the conspiracy documentaries circulating around the cyber universe, Loose Change is probably the most controversial and the most popular.   We're all aware of the massive success of March of the Penguins. It was a beautifully shot film and a touching story and, more importantly, is responsible for the sudden popularity of penguins.   One of my favourite documentaries of last year was director Stanley Nelson's 'Jonestown: The Life and Death of People's Temple'. (You can read my review here.) The film takes a look at the power of Jim Jones and the influence he held over a group of desperate, god loving folks. Ultimately, the details of the Jonestown massacre have been since summed up by a one phrase: 'drink the kool aid', a reference to Jone's prescribed poison of choice. (Technically it was poisoned 'Flavor Aid'. I guess Jones was a cheapskate.) I'm sure some of you have used the term, completely unaware ...
