America: Freedom To Fascism Full Movie on Google Video

freedomfascismgoogle.jpgEarlier this year, movie producer Aaron Russo (Trading Places, Wise Guys) was inspired to become a bit of a Michael Moore-type shit disturber when it suddenly occurred to him that there might not be an actual law stating that anyone is required to pay income tax. He set out to investigate the story behind taxation in the United States and the I.R.S., along with a detour into the threat that National I.D. cards pose to civil liberties. The result is America: Freedom To Fascism, a hard-hitting political documentary that managed to fly under most people’s radar during its short theatrical run.

Personally I haven’t been very interested in seeing this movie, and it’s not because I dislike political films, nor is it because I’m not American. Mainly it’s because the movie appears rather dull, and seems to be trying way too hard to create an ominous vibe. Say what you will about Michael Moore, but at least he can put together an entertaining flick.

In the end, though, there just may be some disturbing and important truths underneath it all, and the full version of America: Freedom To Fascism can now be viewed for free online at Google Video. On the one hand, when you’re giving a movie away for free, it doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence that it’s worth watching. On the other hand, it does seem to be keeping in line with the spirit of the film. As the Google Video description states, Russo “is putting this up “for free” on Google Video knowing that the hour has come for Americans to either be awakened to restore the Republic or be swept aside by the dark global forces of fascism that seeks to enslave mankind”. Jeez… can you be a little more dramatic?

Interesting to note: the beginning of the movie is titled “America: Freedom To Fascism: Volume One”. Does this mean there is a sequel in the works? And if so, will it involve Wesley Snipes?

If you do check out the movie, come back and let us know what you thought of it.
