We here at The Documentary Blog are big fans of the television show Kenny vs. Spenny (Read my review of season one here.), so here’s something that i’d heard about a while ago and was always interested in checking out. Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice got their start with the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Pitch’, in which they documented themselves attempting to sell a mob comedy script. The Papal Chase is another award winning documentary along the same lines, only this time, after a bet with a friend, Hotz is on a mission to meet The Pope. With only six days to accomplish his goal, Kenny does whatever it takes (forged press passes, dressing up like a priest) to meet the holy man and win the bet. Along the way we get some suprisingly insightful interviews with the citizens of Toronto who discuss their spirituality and how The Pope’s visit has affected them. Anyone who enjoys Hotz’s sense of humour should definitely check this out (and Kenny vs. Spenny if you haven’t already). Also head over to The Papal Chase official website and Kenny Hotz own personal site. Thanks to Corey for the heads up on this.
