Lately i’ve been addicted to Tom Green’s live internet talk show, and this week he sat down with Elwood Carlisle, an 82 year old man trying to make it in show business. I remember seeing this guy on Leno a short while ago and he was pretty entertaining, enthuiastic, and seemed to have a pretty amazing life. I don’t know too much about him other than the fact that he used to be a body builder, survived being phsyically attacked in his home, was featured in a Ricky Martin video and is now making a living as a movie extra.  Elwood is the subject of a documentary called ‘Elwood Carlisle Superstar!’. Here’s the synposis:

“After 30 years of social isolation, Elwood Carlisle was at his lowest point in life. Based on a whim, he began an acting career at age 74. Quickly realizing a new, exciting chapter in his life, he wrote out a life plan that would include becoming a world superstar and living until age 126! “Elwood Carlisle Superstar” follows this eccentric man as he pursues a dream normally reserved for people 50 years younger. A hilarious and fantastic film, Elwood Carlisle Superstar will give you faith that you can never be too old to find a new beginning!”

It looks like the film is currently making its festival rounds and is recieving positive critical acclaim. I’m not sure if there’s plans for a dvd release in the future, but for now you can check out the trailer at the films official website.
