Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher used to be one of my favourite shows. You can’t get anymore blunt and cynical than Maher and his distaste for children and religion. With that in mind, you can only imagine what he had to say about Heidi Ewing & Rachel Grady’s documentary ‘Jesus Camp’. The buzz is huge about this film and Maher and a panel of guests discuss the film and their opinions on religion and the idea of children claiming that they need to be saved. It seems as though Maher was sent a copy of the film, which seems strange to me. This past summer the filmmakers didn’t want their film screened in Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival because they thought it might create a slant to their unbiased look at such a contraversial subject. Well after watching this video, Maher has pretty much pointed out everything wrong with what these people are teaching these kids…resulting in a pretty clear persoanl point of view of what the film portrays. This makes me wonder how a film like this could be totally unbiased. My favourite part of the video is actor Bradley Whitford’s comment: “If you think you know that Jesus is the son of God, and you think you know that Jesus or God is talking to you…then you’re a schitzophrenic.” Anyways, it’s definately an interesting discussion and worth checking out for those interested in the film or those of you who love watching a bunch of people disagree on the oldest debate in the book.
