Star Wars fans are an interesting and obsessive breed, but unlike some b-movies that have a small cult following, Star Wars fans are pretty much EVERYWHERE. I am curious about a new documentary coming out on DVD later this month called George & Me. British TV host Sky Wilson travels across two continents meeting Star Wars fans and how Star Wars has inspired them in their lives.

There’s already been at least one well-known Star Wars fan documentary that I’m aware of, Dennis Przywara’s Starwoids, which mainly focused on the lead-up to the release of Episode I. George & Me sounds a little closer to Trekkies, however, in the sense that it’s about meeting fans from all walks of life. Whether or not it will capture characters as intriguing as Trekkies remains to be seen however. It could just be another self-serving fan doc, but regardless I’m sure the Star Wars community will embrace it whole-heartedly. You can watch a rather bland and generic trailer for the film over at the 5HeadsTall Productions website. The DVD hits stores in Region 1 and Region 2 formats on September 30th.
