  I've had my fill of modern war documentaries. After the disappointing 'Gunner Palace', I have to say I was a little unsure about sitting through another 'shot by the troops' film exposing the dark side of the war in Iraq. Well i just checked out the trailer for 'The War Tapes', and I have to say this film looks pretty amazing.   I've been anxious to hear more about HBO's upcoming documentary on Hurricane Katrina and the botched rescue effort in New Orleans. Even though the media attention has long since tapered off, I still want the dirt on what really went down, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. At one point there were rumours that Michael Moore was also sending a camera crew down there to poke around, but I'll gladly take a Spike Lee joint instead.   An Inconvenient Truth Directed by: Davis Guggenheim Starring: Al Gore Let me start by saying that An Inconvenient Truth is a shining example of just how important and positive a feature film can be when someone sets out to educate rather than entertain. Anyone who believes movies are pure junk culture, escapism and fantasy fulfilment need only watch this film to see that it's not a fantasy and it presents a scenario that none of us would want fulfilled in our worst nightmares.   Just over a year ago, artists Christo and Jean Claude raised 7,500 sixteen foot tall gates, each adorned with saffron coloured fabric, throughout New York City's Central Park. Like all of Christo's work, the Gates were a temporary display, standing for only sixteen days. Amazingly though, the process of bringing this project to life lasted over twenty years.
